Three teens granted conditional after break and enter crime spree.

Newcastle City Police have made a breakthrough following investigations into eight break and enter offences that occurred in Hamilton and Merewether between Wednesday 17 and Friday 19 June 2020 .

About 2:15pm on Friday 19th June 2020 Police allege that three young person’s broke into a premises in Jenner Parade, Hamilton South where an amount of property was stolen. Shortly afterward the trio were sighted by a plain clothes proactive police officer in Alexander Street, Hamilton South. Further police were contacted who attended and on their arrival all three youths ran into nearby premises. A 15 year old male was arrested by police and found in possession of a backpack, and gloves. The backpack contained proceeds from the break and enter offence. He was taken to Newcastle Police Station.

An extensive search located a second 17 year old male hiding under a premises in Alexander Street, Hamilton South. Police located gloves, a knife, and proceeds from the break and enter at Jenner Parade. He was also arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

At 6:30pm the third young person, a male aged 14 attended Newcastle Police Station where he was arrested for his alleged involvement in the break and enter at Jenner Parade.

Investigation into the previous reported break and enter offences further linked the juveniles resulting in a number of charges being laid on all three males.

The 15 year old male was charged with three counts of Aggravated break, enter & steal and conditionally bailed to appear at Broadmeadow Children’s Court on 10 August 2020.

The 17 year old male was charged with one count of Aggravated break, enter & steal and conditionally bailed to appear at Broadmeadow Children’s Court on 10 August 2020.

The 14 year old male was charged with four counts of Aggravated break, enter & steal and conditionally bailed to appear at Broadmeadow Children’s Court on 10 August 2020.
