Cessnock man found asleep in stolen Audi

Around 6.30pm on 31/8/2020 Nelson Bay Police were called to a residence in Coventry Place, Neson Bay, after the resident at that location found a man parked in his drive-way and asleep at the wheel.

Upon arrival of police it was ascertained that the car the man was asleep in, an Audi 2009 model TT, had earlier been reported stolen from a Mount Vincent address.

The 26 year old man from Cessnock was awoken from his slumber and his details taken. It was then established that the man was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

A search of the vehicle revealed property that police will allege is connected to other matters currently being investigated.

The man was arrested and charged with warrant offences, take and drive motor vehicle without permission, and drive whilst being a disqualified driver.

He was bailed refused by police to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on 1/9/2020.
