Investigations are underway after a woman was assaulted in Newcastle West earlier today.
Shortly after 1am (Sunday 28 March 2021), a 22-year-old woman left a hotel on Hunter Street, Newcastle West, when she was approached by a man.
The man, only described as being aged in his early 20s, assaulted the woman on Wood Street before fleeing the area.
The woman reported the assault to officers from Newcastle City Police District and an investigation is now underway.
Detectives are calling for anyone who may have information concerning the assault, or who may have seen a man loitering around Wood Street, Newcastle West, around 1am today to come forward.
