The Star Gold Coast cancels NYE fireworks show, will others follow suit.

The Star Gold Coast has announced they’re terminating the New Years Eve fireworks show, and instead donating the money to the bushfire relief appeal.

All the money from the fireworks budget will be going to GIVIT, along with all the profits from every drink sold at Garden Kitchen and Bar on the night.

Will we see other venues follow suit and cancel fireworks shows and donate money to those fighting fires and to those who have lost everything.

Do we really need fireworks to bring in the new year or could this money be used to help rebuild community’s that have been devastated by bushfires.

Will major cities cancel their massive shows out of respect to those who are suffering.

The counter argument I here all the time is the fireworks generate more profits from the large crowds that gather to watch the fireworks. It maybe a fair point but I would say people will party in the major cities without fireworks.

we could light up the cities in a vivid style tribute to our firefighters. But I don’t think there is enough time for that between now and NYE.
