A man has been charged after allegedly deliberately lighting a fire on the Central Coast.

About 3.30am (Saturday 22 August 2020), emergency services were called to Woy Woy Road, Woy Woy, following reports of a bushfire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, that caused damage to about 150 square metres of bushland.

Following inquiries at the scene, officers from Brisbane Water Police District arrested a 27-year-old man nearby.

The Woy Woy man was refused bail and appeared at Newcastle Bail Court today, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Gosford Local Court on Monday (24 August 2020).
