It’s not the Army shutting down Newcastle, it’s a training exercise.

Many people across Newcastle are hearing and seeing military aircraft flying around the city.

There is nothing fear, this is just a training exercise and they not shutting down Newcastle because of Covid.

Australian Defence Force personnel will conduct training in the Newcastle, New South Wales, from late-July to early-August 2020.
The training will be conducted during the day and night.

The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters, vehicles, unmanned aerial surveillance systems and military personnel carrying weapons.

Blank and paint ammunition will be used during some aspects of the training.
People who see the training should not be concerned that any of the locations are under any form of actual threat.
