INTERNATIONAL DRIVER LICENSE TORN UP AFTER RACKING UP 74 DEMERIT POINTS IN THREE YEARS

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol after working with Service NSW suspended the visiting driver privileges of a international licence holder after they accumulated 74 demerit points in a 3 year period.

On Friday 15th January 2021, officers from Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle in the Wyong area in relation to a speed offence. Checks of the drivers licence found that the driver held an international licence and was driving as a visitor.

A check of the drivers NSW history found that in the past 3 years the driver had accumulated 74 demerit points. The driver was issued a penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more then 20km/h. Submissions were made to Service NSW where the drivers privileges to drive in NSW were suspended for a period of 9 months as a result of the Police enquirers.
