HEALTH AUTHORITYS ON HIGH ALERT COVID-19 FRAGMENTS FOUND IN HUNTER SEWAGE

Covid-19 fragments have been found at the Burwood Beach Sewage Waste Facility from a sample taken on 21th of April 2021.

Health authorities do not know if these fragments have come from historical cases or if Covid-19 is circulating around the community undetected.

The Burwood Beach Sewage Waste Facility services the areas of Newcastle, Dudley, Charlestown, Jesmond, Lambton, New Lambton, Mayfield, Elermore Vale, Wallsend, Kotara, Garden Suburb, Adamstown Heights, Kahibah, Highfields, Merewether, Waratah West, Georgetown and Carrington.

Residents with flu like symptoms are urgerd to be tested.

There has been no new confirmed community cases in NSW.
