Mark Vaile announced his resignation as Newcastle University Chancellor just 1 week after being appointed Chancellor.
Mr Vaile’s appointment had upset a minority of left learning staff and students who had been vocal about their disapproval of his appointment due to his close ties to the coal industry.
It’s a sad day for freedom when someone can be forced to resign because of their climate and political beliefs.
