Hillsborough Road is in dire need of upgrades, and this week in Parliament Jodie Harrison MP called on the Government to commit to the upgrade of Hillsborough Road.
As Australia enters the first recession in thirty years, infrastructure spending is a great way to boost local economies. We will never have a better opportunity to make Hunter region infrastructure fit for the future.
In 2018, Jodie Harrison MP visited Hillsborough Road and met with members of the local community along with my colleague Jodi McKay MP. This week, Jodi was very clear about the need to provide jobs and support employment by using our purchasing power in New South Wales to create jobs. Upgrading Hillsborough Road is a perfect opportunity to do that.
Commuters in the Charlestown Electorate know that Hillsborough Road is a traffic chokepoint between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. At rush hour, the road looks like a carpark and it’s nearly impossible for Hillsborough residents to leave the suburb. These delays account for thousands of hours of lost productivity every year, but the Government keeps dodging responsibility, It’s time to act.
