Parents fined after hosting wild birthday party

Parents issued with fines for breaching Health Minister’s Direction after hosting a boozy 16th birthday party.

Two Lake Macquarie parents are embarrassed and out of pocket to the tune of $1000 each this morning after being issued with two fines for breaching the Health Minister’s Direction concerning gatherings at residential premises. A little after 9.00pm last night, 19/12/2020, LMPD officers attended a Montgomery Road address in Argenton and found a party in full swing. We will allege there was a marque, DJ and 200 juveniles in the backyard drinking alcohol and partying. Obviously, this contravened the Health Minister’s Direction which states only 50 people can congregate at a private premise, so we shut it down. Some guests took exception to this and we will allege they threw bottles at the police and were arrested. Investigations into this incident are continuing and we expect to issue more fines over the coming days to people who attended this party.

This should serve as a warning to parents and juveniles alike as we move into the Festive Season that breaches of the Health Minister’s Direction will lighten your pocket.

People with dash-cam footage taken in the Argenton and Glendale areas around the time of this incident are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
