Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees. Today, many countries observe such a holiday. Though usually observed in the spring, the date varies, depending on climate and suitable planting season. 

Mayor Baker spent the morning outside plating new trees across Maitland City in celebration of Arbor Day.

26 trees were planted in four locations including Bakers Brickyard, Lawes Street Skatepark, Swallow Avenue Playground and the Rally Ground in Central Maitland.

Maitland City Council has supplied over 2000 seedlings to community groups in the past 12 months.
