Shut them down, you’re not welcome in the Hunter Valley.

Hunter Valley hotels, motels and bnb accommodation continue to fill up ahead of the Easter long weekend, even though we are on lockdown and a trip to the Hunter Valley is not essential. We are calling on the Government to shut down the Hunter Valley over the Easter long weekend to all non residents.

There has already been a number of COVID-19 Cases linked to a wedding in a Pokolbin back in March and we do not want any more cases because people want to holiday in the Hunter Valley.

It’s just ridiculous that accommodation providers are allowed to continue to operate and facilitate tourists visiting the area during a lockdown with the vast majority of the customers are non essential visitors, we understand that there is a small minority of essential workers for the mines who rely on the accomodation. The vast majority of visitors are non essential.

Have a look below at some of the hotels that almost completely full ahead of the long weekend.

Many accommodation providers are almost completely booked out for the Easter Long Weekend, whilst golfing is allowed I think if you travel 2 to 3 hours to play a round of golf its not really essential.

It’s irresponsible for accommodation providers to be advertising and taking bookings during the lockdown of non essential visitors, in fact, it’s illegal for these visitors to be here unless it’s for the purpose of essential work.

The message is simple stay at home, you’re not welcome in the Hunter Valley.
